Saccharide Isomerate

Saccharide Isomerate

This plant derived sugar complex mimics the natural moisturizing factors (NMF's) in the upper layer of the skin to provide immediate and lasting hydration. It has been shown to influence moisture regulation, which improves skin's resilience against environmental aggression.    Sources: Dry Skin and Moisturizers: Chemistry and Function, 2006, page 200

Allantoin

Allantoin

Allantoin has been shown to increase cell turnover by increasing cell proliferation. This increased growth reduces dullness and improves healing. Has been demonstrated to reduce TEWL (transepidermal water loss) and can help to keep water in skin cells by acting like a sponge. The resulting effects help skin feel plump and soft. Allantoin has been shown to induce wound healing by regulating the inflammatory response of the skin   Sources Comparative Study of the Biological Activity of Allantoin and Aqueous Extract of the Comfrey Root. Ubiquinone (Coenzyme Q10 or CoQ10)

Ubiquinone (Coenzyme Q10 or CoQ10)

Coenzyme Q10, Q10, or Ubiquinone is fat soluble antioxidant that is a critical component in cellular energy production. It’s concentration reduces substantially with age and when the skin is exposed to external stressors. (1) Has been shown to be beneficial when applied to the skin by increasing cellular energy metabolism as well as imparting antioxidant effects. Coenzyme Q10 applied on the skin has been shown not only to increase concentrations at skin surface, but also in deeper layers of the skin where many actives do not impart a meaningful effect. (1) Is a critical component to the removal of reactive oxygen species (ROS) which are produced when cells are exposed to UV light. ROS causes damage to cell structures, membranes, DNA, and proteins that regulate cellular metabolism. Coenzyme Q10 acts as an antioxidant and helps remove ROS that build up cells over time. The concentration of Coenzyme Q10 in Voyager products matches clinically demonstrated concentrations for improved energy metabolism, increased antioxidant properties of skin, and increase concentrations in both the surface and deep layers of the skin. Glycerin

Glycerin

Glycerin is a humectant that absorbs water. It's present in our formulas to aid in moisture retention and prevent transepidermal water loss (TEWL).

Squalane

Squalane

Our sugarcane-derived squalane is similar in structure to the squalene found naturally in the skin. This oil has been shown to impart a plethora of positive benefits to the skin including improved hydration, repair of the skin barrier, and control of oil production, and reduction of fine lines and wrinkles. Squalane in our products is found at a concentration of at least 1%.
